Midwest leader in converged voice, data and IT services expands to better serve small and midsize businesses in the region

DES MOINES, Iowa—-June 7, 2006-LightEdge Solutions, Inc., a leader in converged data networking, voice-over-Internet-protocol (VoIP) and managed IT business services, today announced its acquisition of the business division of NexGen Integrated Communications, a provider of business and residential Internet, voice and cable TV services in Urbandale, Iowa.

LightEdge acquires substantially all of NexGen's commercial assets and the 700 customers related to its business Internet services in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska. All NexGen business customers will be integrated with LightEdge. NexGen retains all of the assets and the 3,000 customers subscribing to its residential service in Des Moines and will continue to service its residential customers under the NexGen name.

"NexGen's business assets provide us with direct access to telecom facilities that will enable us to deliver new services such as Ethernet over copper, which means that small and midsized businesses will have cost-effective access to voice and data speeds greater than traditional DSL or T-1 in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City and Omaha. With higher speeds and capacity, these businesses will also have access to LightEdge's Fortune-500-caliber managed IT services like storage and online backup at affordable rates."

The acquisition will provide NexGen business customers, as well as other small and midsize businesses in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City and Omaha, with access to advanced technology services such as VoIP phone systems, data networking and business services at affordable monthly rates. Since these services are available from LightEdge as hosted and fully managed solutions, businesses can avoid the significant up-front capital infrastructure investment typically required to deploy and maintain such systems.

All employees from both entities will be retained. LightEdge is currently hiring to meet continued demand for its services. Terms of the transaction will not be disclosed.
