Exchange Migration Instructions

Once your LightEdge Exchange account has been confirmed, you may begin migrating your email over to our systems. If you have any questions, feel free to contact by email at support@lightedge.com or by phone at 877-771-3343, option 4.

MyLightEdge Portal
Once your domain has been created.  You can sign in to our MyLightEdge Portal to have complete control over your domain. All admin users of your domain will be able to log into this portal to make user, group, contact and public folder changes at any time.   

  • Simply point your web browser to http://www.lightedge.com/ and log into the MyLightEdge Portal in the upper right hand corner with your email address and password.  
  • From there, simply choose Products to see all the products that are setup for your account. 
  • On the left hand side of the screen you should see an option for MS Hosted Exchange 2007.  
  • From there, you can begin adding users, groups or company wide contacts.    

Software
LightEdge Solution provides the latest versions of Outlook and Entourage for your users.  Admin users can log into the MyLightEdge Portal and head to their MS Hosted Exchange 2007 Product and choose the appropriate download and installation instructions to provide to their end users.

Forwarding Addresses
In order to make the migration as smooth as possible, we have setup a temporary domain that you can point your email addresses to while your MX records change over to our servers.   The migration of the DNS can take a while to propagate so we recommend setting up the forwarding domain to ease this transition. 

The forwarding addresses are in the following format
<username>@<orgid>.leapps.com.   To view the forwarding accounts on a user, Simply go into the Account listing, edit a user and click on the Secondary Addresses for that user.   The leapps.com address is the address that you can pass along to your end users to setup the account forwarding.

DNS Settings
There are two options for changing your DNS settings to point to your new Hosted Exchange 2007 domain. 

Option 1:  Contact your DNS provider and add the following entries to your domain:

MX Records
@        3600   IN        MX    100        <domain>.s5a1.psmtp.com.
@        3600   IN        MX    200        <domain>.s5a2.psmtp.com.
@        3600   IN        MX    300        <domain>.s5b1.psmtp.com.
@        3600   IN        MX    400        <domain>.s5b2.psmtp.com.

CNAME records
autodiscover.<domain>.    3600   IN     CNAME    autodiscoverredirect.leapps.com.
email.<domain>.                 3600   IN     CNAME    email.leapps.com.
spam.<domain>.                 3600   IN     CNAME    login.postini.com.

Option 2:   Let LightEdge Solutions host your new domain.   This will require updating your Authoritative Name Server with your registrar.    In order for a smooth transition, it is recommended that you request a copy of your DNS zone file from your current registrar and send that to support@lightedge.com before making any changes.  Our support staff will setup the domain and notify you when you can proceed with the registrar updates.

Registrar Identification Help:
If you need help identifying your registrar, you can look it up by going to the InterNIC site and searching for your domain.  Your registrar will be listed in the returned results.
