Business Challenge

Customer required minimal downtime (less than an hour), which exceeded hot/cold disaster recovery restoration scenarios. To add complexity, there is also a heterogeneous technology environment which consists of Microsoft servers and IBM AS400.

LightEdge Power practice implemented & manages an Enterprise recovery solution for Kemin Industries. Kemin’s IBM AS400’s reside in LightEdge Data Centers (Iowa and Missouri), and the Microsoft servers utilize LightEdge Enterprise Cloud & Bare Metal Cloud in Iowa and Missouri. LightEdge manages the infrastructure and operating systems, allowing Kemin technology team to focus on supporting and managing the applications and data.

LightEdge utilizes Vision MIMIX for the IBM AS400 and Veeam for the Microsoft server virtual machines. We manage, monitor and execute the fail-over processes for Kemin Industries. This fail-over test is conducted monthly, and Kemin Industries operates their global operations on the disaster recovery systems for 3 days. LightEdge personnel, data centers and networks are viewed as an extension of Kemin Industries and not as a 3rd party company.

Power-Cloud Managed Service Overview

Global companies, like Kemin Industries, that rely on access to their servers 24×7 by their users and
customers around the world are imperative to maintaining ongoing operations, manufacturing and revenue.
To be the leader in their market segment, the business has recognized this would not be attainable without relying on technology. Uptime and availability is critical, and a working disaster recovery model ensures their business can continue to operate if their production environment is rendered inoperable.
