LightEdge Continues To Expand Kansas City Data Center

Compliant Hosting Provider Just Completed Latest Expansion of Colocation Facility Within SubTropolis Technology Center

KANSAS CITY, MO – July 21, 2020 – LightEdge, the Midwest’s premier cloud hosting and colocation provider, officially completed their latest facility expansion within Hunt Midwest’s SubTropolis Technology Center. This project added about 18,000 sq. ft. of white floor space with redundant power and cooling to match and was designed to support both client storage and private suite deployments.

Prior to this latest phase, LightEdge’s total data center footprint in SubTropolis Technology Center was 27,000 sq. ft. complete with a 24x7x365 staffed Network Operations Center and 100 Workplace Recovery desks for area clients to reserve in the event of a disaster. Post-expansion, LightEdge’s Kansas City Data Center now spans a massive 45,000 sq. ft. with no plans to slow capacity.

Future phases with their partner, Hunt Midwest, are virtually unlimited given the 2,000,000 sq. ft. of mission critical growth potential in the mine. The strong financial backing and stability of LightEdge’s owner, The Anschutz Corporation, also plays a pivotal role in their ability to quickly scale to meet growing demand. The cloud provider can continue adding 18,000 sq. ft. buildouts in a fast track method due to the nearly constant climate in SubTropolis Technology Center.

LightEdge currently owns and operates seven data centers across Des Moines, IA, Omaha, NE, Austin, TX, Raleigh, NC, and Kansas City, MO that are all concurrently maintainable to Tier III standards. Every LightEdge facility is highly-interconnected with the others on private fiber backbones for always-on connectivity, making them extremely unique in the market.
