Governance

Governance

We are committed to serving and protecting our business and our customers through robust governance processes. Compliance, security, and business continuity are core to LightEdge solutions, aspects that are inherently integral to ESG.

ESG governance at LightEdge is managed at the executive leadership level. Our Chief Operating Officer oversees our corporate ESG efforts, with various department leaders responsible for specific aspects.

Energy Efficiency

Our data centers achieve a weighted total of 1.54 PUE, which is consistently lower than the industry average of 1.6-1.75 PUE. Some of our data centers are seeing 1.3 PUE. We continuously monitor and improve our energy efficiency, with the aim to achieve a weighted total of 1.45 PUE by 2025.

To optimize cooling and energy efficiency, we employ sustainable solutions such as cold aisle containment, advanced cooling systems, building management systems, motion sensor lighting, and equipment upgrades. Our underground data centers in Kansas and Missouri use geothermal cooling, which reduces energy consumption by maintaining a naturally cooling temperature of 65°F.

Waste Management

We minimize waste through responsible disposal, diverting, and recycling initiatives. We strive to recycle everything that leaves our facilities, from paper to electronic products. We’ve also installed water filtration systems at our facilities to reduce single-use plastic bottles. Our waste reduction efforts include partnerships with trusted industry organizations. We collaborate with Synetic Technologies to host an annual Earth Day Recycling Event, which gives us and our customers a way to safely, responsibly dispose of IT equipment. We also work with Circular Computing to support our industry’s circular economy efforts through an equipment refurbishment program.

Water Conservation

Our two underground data centers in Kansas and Missouri use geothermal cooling, which eliminates the need for water-intensive cooling towers often required for surface-level data centers. This advantage allows us to contribute to water conservation efforts by avoiding the use of thousands of gallons of water annually.
  • Compliance

LightEdge facilities are built with a compliance-first mindset. We ensure that compliance reports are easily accessible for our customers to share directly with their auditors. This increases our customers’ compliance capabilities while saving them time and money from potential downtime and other disruptions.

  • Security

LightEdge facilities have industry-leading physical security 24×7, with up to seven security layers. This includes multifactor and biometric authentication and a comprehensive access management system that tracks all movement throughout our facilities. These security levels are inherent across all of our data centers at no additional cost to customers.

Our underground data centers in Kansas and Missouri provide additional protection against natural disasters and national security threats. These facilities are shielded from extreme weather events and provide additional physical security measures that are not readily available to surface-level sites. They contribute to our data center infrastructure’s overall resilience and security, advantages that our customers inherently benefit from.

  • Certifications

LightEdge is one of the very few data center providers with HITRUST and ISO 2000-1 certifications. We continuously look to strengthen our compliance and are working towards CMMC and FEDRAMP certifications.

Our colocation, cloud, managed services, disaster recovery, and security solutions are designed to support complex hybrid IT deployments. They are audited annually against the industry’s top security and compliance standards including:
